It turned out to be a kind of digest for the last 4-5 years.

Acquaintance with the subject.

Model 32PFT6559 / 60 looks good outwardly: a neat thin frame, as is customary now. The 32 ” panel weighs only 5.2 kg, so you won’t have any problems if you suddenly want to hang it on the wall. However, the package includes a very convenient stand, its installation will take at most a couple of minutes.

We turn on the power. Philips sign lights up on the front panel

We connect the TV. All manipulations with the device are performed using the remote control – there is only one power on / off button on the case. So, the TV will not be able to work without the remote control (in my opinion, this is not quite the right decision – an additional side control panel with a minimum of the most necessary buttons would not hurt if the remote suddenly “rebelled”). Let’s examine the remote in more detail.

Remote controller. Small in size (180x47x10 mm) and in weight (85 g). Rather, on a “woman’s” hand. The buttons are not so easy to find in the dark, several times toggled “in the wrong place.” Perhaps you will get used to the remote control over time. Nevertheless, it would be nice to have some minimal illumination, or not a strictly symmetrical shape. The buttons are sensitive, but too small. Especially such important ones as Setup (setting parameters of brightness, sound, etc.), Format (format of the screen field), as well as buttons for adjusting the sound level and switching channels. Other important buttons – Sources, Home and TV, with which you can select a signal source and get into the main control panel – differ in increased size and are located at a slightly greater distance from other buttons. It’s comfortable.

Remote control

Rear and side connectorsRear panel. Concentration of ports and sockets for connecting cables, USB flash drives, and other devices. The total number of connectors is small, although all the necessary types are presented with the exception of very exotic ones. Why are slots for flash cards always placed so that it is impossible to install a flash drive without turning the TV set? This is inconvenient. What if the TV is hanging on the wall?

Main menu

So, by clicking on the Home button, we get to the main menu. Using the buttons “right” or “left”, we move through the menu, selecting the desired item. Of course, I was most interested in the options related to working with the network and Smart TV. Moreover, modern TVs are mainly positioned precisely as devices for full-fledged work with the network. Model 32PFT6559 / 60 is also clearly “sharpened” for this. Skype has even been moved to the main menu.

Nevertheless, I decide to start with a demo. She clearly demonstrates the ability of the TV to “build and improve” the picture.

The picture shows the work of the automatic sharpening program. On the left is the picture before, and on the right – after processing. Looking ahead, I will say that the option turned out to be very useful when watching old videos of not very high quality. And the on-air signal will only benefit from such processing. But initially, a high-quality Full HD picture does not require such additional processing, so when viewing such recordings, it is better to disable the option.

TV, rear view.

Ambilight is on. In our case, these are eight extremely powerful LED light sources that change brightness and tone depending on the picture on the screen, creating a backlight of the desired shade. Ambilight creates the effect of enlarging the screen (it seems that the image continues further, beyond the screen area). So its use in home theaters is welcome. The main thing in this case is to correctly position the TV so that it does not have glare glass or metal surfaces on the sides. For my taste, it is best to place a wall or flat surface in a neutral gray a short distance behind an Ambilight TV. This will maximize the backlighting effect.

If the TV is not placed correctly, the Ambilight will illuminate objects close behind us and become more likely to interfere with watching a movie. Here, for example, a stack of books distracts attention.

Rear panel view with connectors. Standard set. USB is only on the side.Side panel view with connectors. It will be difficult to find USB by touch.Top back view. I liked the stand very much – it is light and comfortable.

The SKYPE tab has been moved to the main menu. This can be regarded as a serious intention to make a TV “geared for the network”. But the camera is not included.

Virtual keyboard. If you are going to seriously engage in Internet surfing, you will have to take care of a real keyboard – you can’t work quickly with a virtual one.

Smart TV

Interactive television in TVs of this series is made according to the already standard template. Connecting to the network (via the Ethernet-LAN RJ-45 port) went without any problems – the TV recognized the network and automatically made all the settings.

By clicking on the symbol button, you drop from the main menu to the Smart menu (along the way, you are offered to join the Philips club, but you don’t have to). This page contains icons of selected applications, as well as “working” icons: App Gallery (gallery of available applications), Social TV (chats and social networks), TV on demand (TV programs on demand), Browse the Internet (browser), Cloud Explorer (cloud service), Cloud TV.

In the App Gallery, you can download any of about forty (currently) paid or free applications – from Playboy TV to Channel One. There are applications for children, music, games. The choice is still not very large, although, of course, such “bison” as Youtube, Ivi, Yandex are available.

Social TV – here you can chat while watching TV, chat, Facebook or Twitter.

TV on demand – viewing past programs – is, for my taste, of greater interest. There are mainly “deferred” programs of entertainment (including erotic) and news channels (Vesti, Euronews, Wall Street Journal), etc. There are popular science programs (“about travel”, “about animals”) – in general, everything that is in demand by the audience.

Browse the Internet – a browser for text entry of Internet site addresses. In Russian.

Cloud Explorer is a cloud service manager for file sharing, photo storage and other tasks inherent in this kind of services.

Cloud TV is another app service that today has collected no less than 88 Internet TV channels from news from Basque life to Japanese food horror shows.

Smart TV page. In the upper left row there are icons for App Gallery, Social TV, TV on demand, Browse the Internet, Cloud Explorer, Cloud TV.

In the App Gallery.

TV on demand. You can find something interesting.

For example, the latest news from Euronews in Russian.

With all the advantages and conveniences of Smart TV, a TV set cannot yet compare with a personal computer in terms of the speed of entering information, or the speed of its processing. This TV can in no way be called a high-speed device, and the pauses it makes after pressing this or that button turn out to be downright significant. Several times the TV simply hung up while watching videos and films on Youtube, IVI and other popular resources.

Movie

Having connected a network drive through a router (the TV saw and automatically recognized all home network computers running Windows 8, but it did not recognize Windows XP. He also saw the ZyXEL NSA210 NAS), I proceeded to the most enjoyable part of the test – watching movies. Were chosen “Star Warriors”, the last part (“Revenge of the Sith”) and black and white tape “The sky over Berlin”.

During the viewing, a group of experts came to the conclusion that the TV provides good picture quality, especially when it comes to colorful, dynamic scenes (here, apparently, the proprietary sharpness setting is in effect). This TV will definitely be good for watching sports broadcasts. As for the “lyrical” black-and-white cinema, the gradient transitions, especially in very dark places, gave a barely noticeable “ladder”.

A color picture is a familiar splash screen. Cloud gradients are reproduced correctly

Still from the film “The Sky Over Berlin”. Shadow detail is quite visible.

3D

The TV copes quite successfully both with the reproduction of ready-made 3D recordings and with the conversion of 2D images to 3D. In the latter case, the quality, of course, is lower than with the “reference” “Avatar” or a similar tape. The set includes two pairs of polarized glasses. Perhaps this technology is somewhat inferior to the shutter technology (as true 3D fans like to remind of this), but the convenience of such glasses is obvious – they are lightweight, you do not need to connect them, you can watch while sitting, lying down, as you like.

Summarizing.

The TV, in general, left a favorable impression. It reproduces the picture with high quality, be it broadcast or recording from Blu-Ray. As a device for watching programs or movies, it is very good. Moreover, the cost of the Philips 32PFT6559 model is more likely to belong to a low price category. For the image – a solid “four with a plus”.

The situation is more complicated with Internet surfing and, in general, working on the net. So far, both the hardware and the software have problems here. Files are loaded slowly, video processing is proceeding with varying success, the interface is often inconvenient (working with the virtual keyboard, you feel illiterate). Internet applications are not that many. In general, Smart TV is a C grade.

June 5, 2014 An exhibition-presentation of new LG household appliances was held in the congress center of the Moscow hotel “Ukraine”. The current models of white household appliances were shown – washing machines, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, microwave ovens and a small (so far) collection of LG built-in kitchen appliances.

This exhibition, in my opinion, was of a dual nature. First of all, it is a summing up of the results of activities over the past year. Summing up the results is certainly pleasant, as evidenced by the graphs of sales growth of equipment with consistently high results. For example, LG ranks first in refrigerators in the Russian market with 20.4% of all sales (and this is especially impressive if you know that in 2011 the company was only third with a market share of 13.1%). The situation is even better in the washing machine market: here LG has long and confidently led the way with a share of 31%.

The company’s success is largely attributed to the superior technology offered by LG. These are innovations that are interesting to write about. A lot of innovations were presented – however, not all of them were completely fresh. It turned out to be a kind of digest for the last 4-5 years. Once again, with a kind word, they recalled the wonderful LG linear compressor, Direct Drive technology (it is now increasingly used not only in LG washing machines, but also in other brands), the technology of rotating the drum of the washing machine “Six movements of care” (6 Motion) , the technology of pressing garbage in the container of Kompressor vacuum cleaners and many other developments.

Of the “very, very fresh” novelties, we note:

LG KOMPRESSOR RoboSense cordless vacuum cleaners. This is the familiar LG KOMPRESSOR line, but radically redesigned. Firstly, it uses the technology of automatic movement and active movement of the wheel. This lightweight and compact vacuum cleaner follows the user from room to room, making cleaning as easy as possible without additional effort. Second, the LG KOMPRESSOR RoboSense is powered by rechargeable batteries, which are technological breakthroughs in their own right. The built-in 80V battery, manufactured by LG Chemicals, provides up to 17 minutes of operation at a maximum suction power of 200W.

Cordless vacuum cleaner LG 2in1. Other manufacturers have such vacuum cleaners, it is the first time in the LG collection. Lightweight (2.7 kg) and easy to use, the cordless vacuum cleaner can be used as a full-fledged upright vacuum cleaner or as a portable hand-held vacuum cleaner, equipped with a station with a removable lithium-ion battery. Like all LG trustove Chem batteries, it provides high suction power and up to 70 minutes of battery life.LG dishwasher with TrueSteam technology. Steam is increasingly used in washing and cleaning technology, and this is not surprising, since it is an excellent solvent for dirt, as well as an effective and completely harmless disinfectant. The LG machine has a Steam Power mode, in which hot steam particles are ejected from the nozzles under pressure, removing food debris and making the dishes perfectly clean. There is also a more delicate Steam Care cycle for cookware that requires careful handling. Another original solution is an ultraviolet lamp that turns on after the end of the wash cycle. It kills up to 99.9 percent of all remaining bacteria. This feature, combined with LG’s TrueSteam technology, provides perfect hygienic protection for your cookware.

LG’s line of washing machines featuring TurboWash technology are now also steam-powered. LG TrueSteam technology delivers high-quality, delicate and energy-efficient washing. During washing, steam mixes with water, dissolves the washing powder as efficiently as possible and penetrates deeply into the fibers of the product, gently acting on the fabric and, at the same time, intensively removing dirt. Thus, an excellent washing performance is ensured. In addition, the special refresh steam mode removes unpleasant odors and smoothes light creases and wrinkles.

The line of refrigerators LG 489-series is supplemented with new models GA-B489TGRF (red with a flower pattern) and GA-B489TGRM (red). Like all LG refrigerators, they are equipped with a linear compressor. They have a Total No Frost system, an Opti Temp freshness zone, and Moist Balance Crisper technology for maintaining an optimal moisture level in the vegetable section. In the category of roomy Side-by-side refrigerators, LG is introducing the new four-door model with the Door-in-Door function LG GR-M24FWCHL.
